Advocacy Services

MHA provides unique, first-hand experience to support your rights and to guide you to services that will aid your recovery.  We will listen to your questions, make referrals, and partner with you and your family throughout you treatment choices.

An MHA Advocate will help you understand the laws, rules and mental health  regulations.  We will refer you to the local services available.  Advocacy services are available for both children and adults.   MHA is here to serve you through the complex relaxtionships that feel too difficult to understand and manage alone.  MHA is open and operating virtually throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.

Children & Families

Our Client and Family Advocate is dedicated to empowering you, through information and education, along your path to managing your circumstances. By helping to answer questions and making appropriate referrals, your MHA advocate will become your partner. We will help you find solutions that enable you to manage your family’s needs.

Upon request, we will act as your Educational IEP Advocate through the special education system, and strive to ensure that you don’t feel alone.

Adult Advocacy

Mentorship, education and peer support is what you can expect from an MHA Advocate. By forming a one-to-one partnership with our Advocate, we will guide you to your choice of the most appropriate services, and empower you through ongoing information and conversation. We don’t want you to feel alone.

Contact our Peer Educator at 717-397-7461 or by email at cbowman@mhalancaster.org to start the conversation. Let us help you learn to advocate for yourself.

There is no cost for our advocacy services because of the donations of our wonderful supporters, right here in our Lancaster County community.
