SUMMARY:Abuse and Suicide: SPC Monthly Educational Talk
DESCRIPTION:Who is it for?\nThe Suicide Prevention Coalition (SPC) talk will provide education around Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) and its connection to suicide. IPV can have a traumatizing impact on those who are involved and suicidal thoughts\, depression\, and anxiety can all be byproducts of such experiences. \nYou will learn from someone who has been there herself and there will be Q&A time as well as a list of resources that can help you get the support for you or help a loved one. \nWho will be speaking?\nWe welcome Lois Walters as she shares with us from a place of expertise and experience to lead our talk this month. Lois is a mental health and addictions nurse/counselor\, and college-level educator with over 38 years-experience. She holds two masters degrees: one in nursing and one in human services. \nShe also completed Eastern Mennonite University’s Parish Nurse Program (also known as Faith Community Nursing). In 2005\, Lois started a local faith-based widow’s support group which continues to this day. She teaches CPR and First Aid in the community. Additionally\, Lois volunteers for MHA teaching QPR (Question\, Persuade\, and Refer)\, a community-based suicide prevention program. \nMore about SPC Talks:\nThese free educational talks will be given on a monthly basis related to different populations and specific need areas who may experience suicidal thoughts\, attempts\, or the loss of loved ones to suicide. \nOur goal is to better equip you to face specific challenges that may lead to suicidal thoughts. Our hope is that you find comfort in the words of those who have lived experience and provide education and resources to help you get connected to the support you need.

DESCRIPTION:Notice: JavaScript is required for this content.\n\n\n \n\n\n \n \n \nProgress\, Productivity\, & Pressure: Protecting your staff’s mental health in a post-pandemic world \nis a 90 minute class designed to help you understand how to help your staff reintegrate back into the work place\, while still meeting your goals. This pandemic has been a challenge for us all. Knowing what you can say and when you can approach your staff about their emotional health can be a fine line. Knowing the balance between individual health and health of a team can be difficult. Dr. Stallworth will help management professionals find that balance so they can walk that line with confidence and lead their team to success.

DESCRIPTION:Notice: JavaScript is required for this content.\n\n\n \n\n\n \n \n \nQPR stands for Question\, Persuade\, and Refer — the 3 simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. \nJust as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year\, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question\, persuade\, and refer someone to help. Each year thousands of Americans\, like you\, are saying “Yes” to saving the life of a friend\, colleague\, sibling\, or neighbor.
