Friend Events

Clients must be referred by a qualified mental health professional who is engaged in an ongoing clinical relationship with the client. A mental health professional must be trained or licensed in social work, psychology, case management or be a medical doctor. 

The mental health professional must know the client, see him/her for treatment on a regular basis and be willing to be consulted for intervention and consultation as situations or crisis occur. Clients must have a primary diagnosis of mental illness and be appropriate for referral to the Compeer program. 

Annual Friendship Luncheon

In celebration of the founding of Compeer Lancaster, we gather for a special friendship luncheon every April to enjoy a meal, live entertainment, and special recognition of all our friendships. The luncheon is for the friendships in the program and details are provided by the Program Manager. To inquire about the luncheon write or call 717-397-7461. Game Nights

All Compeer Friends, Volunteers, and Waiting List Friends are invited to Game Night every other month at the Rossmere Mennonite Church (741 Janet Ave, Lancaster). Game nights are virtual and the announcements for planned nights will come from the Program Manager. For questions about game nights, write

Annual Compeer Picnic

Every August, we hold the yearly tradition of an end-of-summer picnic. Compeer provides hamburgers, hot dogs, buns, drinks, and table settings. Please bring your favorite snack, salad, fruit or dessert to share. The Compeer picnic is only for the participants in the Compeer program, by invitation.

December Holiday Party

In December, Compeer friends gather for an evening of socializing, musical or magical entertainment, and a buffet to celebrate the holidays amongst friends. As always, this event is compliments of Compeer and MHA of Lancaster County.

During Covid-19, the Compeer Program Manager will contact our friends about a virtual event in lieu of an in-person event. For more information, write or call 717-397-7461. All Compeer friendship events are for volunteers aned friends in the program only.
